Reception – Blog – Spring 1
Week 1- Starry Night
Happy New Year to you all!
An amazing start to the new term. The children have enjoyed listening to ‘Whatever Next’ and completing all the activities in the provision. On Tuesday the children became scientists by discussing the appearance of the moon and learning the meaning of a crater. They have also been painting and making winter collages, building rockets and pretending to be astronauts in their role play. In maths, the children have been building on their knowledge and understanding of numbers to 5 with the introduction to zero. Phonics has continued with some of the children now reading and using phase 3 sounds. Well done Reception!
Week 2- Starry Night
The children have enjoyed listening to ‘Peace at Last’ and completing all the activities in the provision. The children have particularly enjoyed making shadows in the tent using torches and hands. They are particularly good at making the shadows for butterfly, dog, duck and snail. The children’s love for writing is beginning to develop with many of them having a go at writing well formed letters, CVC words and some now writing simple sentences to describe illustrations.
