Autumn PE Report

Autumn has been another term full of sporting events for our children at Chaucer.

This term we have taken part in competitions in football, sportshall athletics, multi-skills, basketball, GLOW dodgeball and there has even been a JINGLE JOG to get us in the festive spirit.

The KS2 football team played four league matches this term, winning two and losing two. The team also played in the EFL cup reaching the last 16, improving on the previous year’s event.

Our young footballers in Year 3&4 played in an indoor football competition at the YMCA. The team played well and the future looks very bright at Chaucer. The team finished a very respectful 3rd place.

The girl’s football team entered the girls EFL cup. They impressively won all four group games, scoring thirteen goals in the process and conceding zero. They were valiantly beaten in the quarter final stage.

A new event took place this term, GLOW dodgeball. This is dodgeball which takes place in the dark. The children that took part absolutely loved it.

Our year 5&6 sports hall athletics teams took to the track this term, competing in numerous events. All eighteen children that took part competed to their best ability and we all had fun. Even Mr Holt won an event – the teachers Javelin event. Well done Mr Holt! The team finished a very respectable 5th place, again improving on our positioning from the year before.

Back to our younger sporting representatives and the Year 3&4 Basketball team competed in their first competition together and finished 3rd. The team played some amazing basketball, scoring some brilliant baskets along the way.

To finish off the term, three lucky students participated with Mr Holt and Mrs Willis in the inaugural JINGLE JOG, at Rossall School. This was a ‘Tough Mudder’ style event, we got WET, we got MUDDY, but most importantly we LOVED IT!
