Chaucer Secure a Dramatic Last-Minute Victory Against Northfold
Another brilliant game of football was on show at Poolfoot. Alfie put Chaucer 1-0 up very early with an excellent long-range effort, placed beautifully into the bottom corner. Chances were at a premium as both teams cancelled each other out.
After half-time, Northfold came out fighting and equalised with a composed finish. Following this, Chaucer really dug in and started playing fantastic football, forcing the Northfold keeper into save after save.
As the game came to a close, shots were raining down on the Northfold goal, with Eden crashing a volley against the bar from over 25 yards!
With a minute to go, the decisive moment came. A deflected shot went out for a Chaucer corner. Lewis crossed a delicious ball into the danger area, with the keeper pushing the ball against Alfie, who reacted quickly and bundled the ball over the line.
Chaucer remained calm and saw out the final minute to secure a fantastic 2-1 victory.
A massive well done to the whole team, with a special shout-out to Lewis for two great assists.
Player of the Match goes to Alfie for two fantastic goals.
Thank you once again to the incredible young leaders who refereed the game. You did a brilliant job.
