Spring 1 Sport Review

Here at Chaucer, it was a quiet start to the term regarding sport competitions, but that is all set to change with a bumper schedule of sport set for when we get back after half-term.

This term the school football team have participated in 4 matches, representing themselves and the school proudly.

The swimming gala has taken place this week and 15 amazing swimmers took to the water to display their swimming prowess. Children from year four to six donned the googles and swimming cap and where a true credit to the school.

Our younger key-stage 2 children showcased their athletic abilities in the annual year 3/4 athletics competition at Cardinal Allen High School. Taking part in various sporting events from speed bounds, chest pass and multiple relay races, the team gave their all and the school could not be prouder of their efforts.

Moving further down the academic ladder, some of our year 2 children participated in the multi-skills event at Cardinal Allen High School. The aim of this event was to introduce children to various new sports while still having lots of fun.

Away from sport competitions, we have had numerous sporting clubs for all ages to take part in. There has been the Change for Life club ran before school, a dance club ran by a specialist dance teacher (Casey), both boys and girls football training and netball training is underway ready for the upcoming netball league matches.

In the second half of the term the school’s many teams will be back out in force. We have the cross country event, year 3/4 football tournament, 5/6 dodgeball competition and the very exciting inter-school sports quiz, which is being held at Chaucer.

Well done to all pupils who have represented the school this term and a massive thank you to all staff for their hard work and dedication to sport at Chaucer.
