Reception at the Beach

This half term in Reception we have been learning all about The Beach and Under the Sea. We are so fortunate to have the beach right on our doorstep so we took full advantage of that and the lovely weather and we set off to the beach. We learnt all about safety and checked the tide times together to make sure it was safe for us to visit. We packed a beach bag in school and wrote a list of items to make sure we didn’t forget anything. We talked about sun safety and how and why we need to stay safe in the sun.

Once we arrived we visited the beach park and took lots of risks climbing up high on all of the apparatus. When we got up high we could see over the beach huts and we looked out over the sea at Knott End and at the lake district.

We then moved on to the beach and collected lots of items to bring back to school to explore and create our very own beach pictures. While there we spotted lots of jellyfish that had been washed up on the shore. We knew that this had been in the news recently and this created lots of discussion all about Jelly fish which has led onto a new topic to cover over the next few weeks…
